The Tualatin Valley Youth Football League, Inc. (TVYFL) is a non-profit organization that promotes youth football for K through 8th grade youth in the Tualatin Valley, Portland and Salem Metropolitan areas in Northwest Oregon. Our goal is to provide safe and enjoyable athletic competition while developing good sportsmanship and individual growth.
In 1994, founding members Aloha, Beaverton, Hillsboro and Sunset left Beaverton Pop Warner to create a new league based on concerns with weight limit rules preventing players over 150 lbs. from participating. During its inaugural season, the TVYFL fielded ~40 teams between the grades of 5th - 8th grade. Tigard and Tualatin followed from the Belt League (from the East side of the river) and over the next couple of years, the remaining Belt League members joined the TVYFL. The concept of “stripers” (a stripe of tape on the helmet) came from the Belt League to designate players who are over the ball carrier weight limit.
Today, the TVYFL now boasts 60 member associations, approximately 5,800 players and over 1000 volunteers.
